Froggin’

Breakfast!

FrogginUncle Lew used to go froggin’ each year in Virginia. He had to time it right, because the water couldn’t be running too high, nor could it be runnin’ too low, now hear? It also needs to be warm cause you’re gonna get wet! It takes a lot of patience and skill to catch a frog. Did you know that froggin’ is done in the dark?

He caught 9 this day, there were usually more. I know that his favorite recipe was to dip them in egg, then roll the leg in toasted crumbs and flour, with salt & black and a touch of red pepper before you deep fry them in a cast-iron pan.

(Please don’t tell him I told you the secret recipe).

The photos and stories are synchronized. To preserve personal history, my hope is that the anonymous photo and story from a different family will keep the stories of our past vibrant and not these folks to fade away.
